Rewrite, Reclaim, Release & Restore
My team asked me what the flow of the day events would look like while planning for the Mama, Goddess, Queen, Woman Retreat this September. The first word that came to me was rewrite. So much of what we’ve been taught to feel, think or believe about our vulva has been wrong. The wonderful thing about the circle of women is the opportunity to share our stories and hear each other’s perspectives and experiences. Reclamation came next because it’s in the retreat name already - a pussy reclamation. So what’s the significance of reclaiming something? It’s the act of taking something back and in this instance, we’re taking back our ownership of our vulva and we’re using art, ritual, and education to do it.
Now the ideas were really flowing…time to release. How do we release what’s stuck? MOVEMENT.
Movement and sound are both amazing means to release stuck negative energies we may store in our bodies and in this particular case our yoni. Finally, with head, heart & yoni loved on and cared for it’s time to restore. Restoration for us in this moment would be nurturing foods that we know not only promote good overall health but vaginal health as well. As I sat back and read it through I realized that each of these pillars are ones we could live by in our daily lives. We could look to these pillars to guide our entire YEAR - our entire lives if we thought about it.
Rewriting the messaging we group up with so it actually fits the narrative of who are today and who are yet to become.
Reclaiming the bits and pieces, the whole chunks that were taken from us, hidden from us or shamed right out of us. Reclaiming our self worth after a break up, reclaiming our purpose after a failure or reclaiming our body after it’s been held hostage by lies and hateful messaging.
Release the shame, release the fear, release the doubt, release the not good enough - release it and shake it free. Spiral that anger right out of your hips, thrust that fear through the arch of your breast. Celebrate and gyrate sisters and for the love of Goddess make some sound. Howl at the fucking moon and laugh loudly. If you’ve been holding back in your sexual expression in your intimate moments imagine the orgasm possible if you opened your throat and let that primal groan out!
Restore your body lovingly and often. Feed it well - I didn’t say starve it or deprive it, I said feed it well and feed it what it desires. Learn what foods bring your energy up and keep your pussy happy and healthy. Rest so you can restore. Take naps, do nothing as your task for the day. Rest your mind, body and soul anyway you can whenever you need.
Yes, this feels good to me. Rewrite, reclaim, release and restore…so simple. As I pressed send to my team with my retreat outline all I could do was envision myself and a circle of goddesses with our hips rolling, legs in wide stance, taking up space, hands our our bodies and our heads thrown back in joyous radiance.
