2022... Let's talk about it.

If it felt like a constant ebb and flow of challenges and opportunities this year, there was a reason. 

I love researching the meaning and significance of things and as I reflected on 2022 I wondered what the numerological* meaning of the year held if anything. 

Turns out 2022 had a lot to say and it all aligned with what so many of us may have been experiencing. 2020 was the year of clarity and vision and we know what happened then. The Universe literally sat our asses down to stop, listen and get clear on what we needed as individuals and as a society. If 2020 was the catalyst then 2021 was about putting that vision into action. For some of us that required a tremendous amount of courage to rock the boat, light the match and disrupt the status quo. 

The quote that the hardest step is always the first step couldn’t have been truer. I watched client after client take a deep breath and jump into the unknown of the next chapter, testing their faith, committed to writing the next pages of their lives as it unfolded. 

Businesses launched, boundaries were drawn, marriages ended and personal truths were being actualized and brought to light as woman after woman stood up for her well being. So if 2020 was about the vision and 2021 was about the action then what was the purpose of 2022?

According to numerology 2022 with the angel number* 222 tucked right in there was the year for balance, hope, commitment, and trust. It was about being present and in the moment. 

But all of that action kicked up a lot of dust and this year may have felt like those brave choices were being challenged. “Why did it suck so bad to do what made YOU happy?” one client cried while another started to wonder if she was doing the right thing.  When I think back on it now, my focus in these sessions with these women in transition very much echoed the energy of 2022 - balance, hope, commitment and trust. Each time I heard a client negate her tough choice and say things like “ I feel like the villain” or “ It was easier when I was unhappy and everyone else was happy” I had them refocus on these pillars.

Balance - pouring back into ourselves mentally, emotionally and spiritually so we can stay grounded in our vision by creating healthy boundaries and new habits and patterns around self-care. 

Hope - staying in the belief that the dust will settle.  Hope that these tough choices today are making room for the future vision of our lives to come.

Commitment - to our tough choices, to our vision, to our values, to the promises to ourselves. 

Trust - ourselves, our intuition, our body, our hearts

Goddesses, as we come to the end of the year I gotta say I’m damn proud of all of us. 

As we continue to work on ourselves I am hopeful for what this means for us as a community because I believe individual self-care is actually good for the community. Interestingly enough, I’ve noticed a growing theme of frowning upon the concept of looking out for one's self and it being construed as selfish and anti-community. 

No, I can’t agree with this. Some of us have fought too hard and long to find our voice, to find our courage, and to finally put our needs first. This effort to care for self creates a healthier individual and healthy individuals create healthy communities. 

And wouldn’t you know it? 

The theme of 2023 is self-love and love for others. This brings me to this exciting little announcement. 

In an effort to create more balance for myself and elevate the women in my community, I will be opening up The Whole Ass Word blog to guest writers! There are women in my life that have some good medicine for you and I can’t wait for them to share it with you.
